Biomedical sciences: Where to start

What is... biomedical sciences?

The subject of biomedical sciences involves the application of modern techniques in the molecular life sciences to medicine. If you are interested in finding out about how diseases develop and are treated and have enjoyed general lab work at A-level, a degree in biomedical sciences could be for you. Modules vary but may include: cancer biology; pharmacology; and clinical immunology.

The Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) is the professional body for biomedical scientists in the UK. The Institute’s website provides useful information for those considering a future career in this area.
