Having completed my LLB degree, I came to Exeter to study for the LLM degree in European Legal Studies. Exeter is very friendly and has been described as a city of contrasts; it is a modern city, but with a colourful history. It has good rail links, it is close to the seaside and it is much warmer than other parts of England. The campus is very beautiful and everything is close and convenient. During the LLM course we were expected to prepare written papers throughout the year, which we presented to the other students and the course tutor at our seminars. We were spared the agony of exams and instead had to submit three written essays and a dissertation of up to 15,000 words. I learned to work closely with the other students, who are people of diverse cultures and academic backgrounds. With the help of the excellent academic staff and of my colleagues, I was able to broaden my knowledge of the law and to develop my research skills. After successfully completing my LLM degree, I decided to proceed with a PhD, and with the invaluable guidance of my supervisor, I started my research on the law of company directors. So far my time in Exeter has been unforgettable. Meeting so many interesting people, working hard and enjoying a wide social life in such a beautiful place has been a very special experience. After successfully completing my LLM degree, I proceeded with a PhD on the law of company directors, with the invaluable guidance of my supervisor. Having got my doctorate, I am now a Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of Exeter. The valuable guidance I received as a student in the school has prepared me well for my academic career.
