Editor's notes (Summer 09)
Editors notes
Welcome to the Summer edition of GMT where the main focus is on the reporting of the Real Prospects survey of early careers of graduates and recent research into graduate careers in some STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.
As the financial down turn carries on without anyone really knowing how it may impact on graduates, there is a recurring concern about certain subjects (STEM) which are considered important to the economy and seen to drive innovation and development. Questions about how many STEM students are in the pipeline, how to keep young people interested in those subjects and how STEM graduates transition into STEM employment, continue to crop up on the agenda of government, higher education institutions and employers.

I hope you enjoy this edition.
